The purpose of Research Division is to create a research-driven institution as a form of serious and deep insight study on various religious problems in Indonesia. By means of doing research, socio-cultural and religious discourses could help Interfidei to become tangible with the ongoing problems within society. The initial implementation of this vision is an ongoing research program on the religious education from elementary schools to the senior high school. Futhermore, there are also many other interrelated programs that support the research activities.

The importance of this religious education research in the schools lays on the presumption that religious education for young generation is one important factor, which influences religious notion, comprehension, and expression in the pluralistic society. The existing religious education - drew the legitimacy from former Soeharto administration - is emphasis on religious identity and formalism. This situation, conscious or unconsciously creating barrier among the students and in turn the behavior being produced affected the societal behavior. The problem urged more for schools that are managed by religious foundations, which in the context of plurality the students came also from different religion.

Through this research, it is hoped that Interfidei not only able to articulate an accurate, realistic, and progressive ideas of the inter-religious relationship of the schools and students' own perspective, but also proposing a religious education model for dealing with the problem of plurality.
